Hans Marteau joined Octo in 2015 as General Counsel. Mr. Marteau obtained his law degree from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in 1987, after which he received an LLM from Columbia Law School in 1989 and an Executive MBA from IESE Business School in 2004. Mr. Marteau was admitted to the New York Bar in 1990. Mr. Marteau began his career in 1989 as an associate at Simpson Thatcher & Bartlett LLP in New York. From 1990 to 1993, Mr. Marteau was an associate at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in Brussels. Subsequently, Mr. Marteau acted as Legal Advisor in the Iran-U.S. Claims Tribunal in the Hague and from 1994 to 1999 Mr.Marteau was Senior Counsel to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. From 1999 to 2000 he was head of Investment Banking—Legal for Lehman Brothers International, London. From 2001 to 2014, he served as General Counsel and Head of Corporate Development at The Colomer Group, a CVC Capital Partners investee.
