Within this framework, the launch of a Mobility Program becomes a strategic initiative. It leverages data to segment drivers’ risk profiles, enables more accurate and fair pricing strategies, and enhances Suramericana’s value proposition by promoting safer driving, delivering tangible benefits, and fostering stronger customer relationships—ultimately driving sustainable profitability.
As part of the program’s design, SURA, together with Jooycar & OCTO, carried out a pilot for nearly a year to validate actuarial robustness and end-user acceptance, achieving excellent results—enough to convince the executive team to roll it out across the entire portfolio.
Before: The Challenge Addressed by the SURA Mobility Program
In Chile, as in most markets, auto insurance has tended to become commoditized, competing solely on price rather than added value. The SURA mobility team seeks to break away from this trend by developing a product that can deliver added value to the end customer while also collecting the necessary data to compete on price in those segments where that strategy can be profitable. At the same time, with this initiative, they were looking for an approach that would enable them to retain their most profitable customers without having to reduce premiums broadly. This is where the “SURA Mobility” proposal was born, whose main value proposition is based on:
•A free app as a complement to all their traditional auto insurance policies
•This app, designed by Jooycar & OCTO, allows users to understand their driving habits and earn “Cashback” by showing improvements in them
•Likewise, the application detects high-impact collisions and is integrated with the assistance provider for proactive rescue (E-Call)
After: Profitability and Safety Powered by Data
The Mobility Program SURA leverages telematics and gamification to create measurable impact for both insurers and policyholders:
•Data proves consistent improvement in driving habits among app users.
•Strong correlation between telematics data and risk profiles enables more accurate pricing.
•Shifts the relationship between insurer and policyholder toward transparency and engagement.
•Gamification drives app usage and long-term customer engagement.
•Delivers a measurable change in driving behavior, fostering safer roads.

“Thanks to our joint work with Jooycar and OCTO, we were able to rigorously validate both actuarial robustness and end-user acceptance. The results were so positive that our executive team decided to extend the program across our entire portfolio. Today, SURA’s Mobility Program not only allows us to enhance pricing accuracy through telematics data, but more importantly, it helps us build a more transparent and engaging relationship with our customers, generating a real impact on road safety”.
